Jon,there is no doubt in my mind that the site you made for me played an absolutely huge part in my successful election campain. I used it as tool on the door step to convince wavering voters. By them going to the site and seeing the work I was involved around my community and nationally, they could see I was genuine and committed. We also had a number of younger voters who I know went to it on a regular basis. Now I'm elected, it's helping me immensely in keeping a wider dialogue going with my residents and nurturing any negative criticism the oppostion may try and throw at me, as voters get to learn about my personality and my work directly from me. Thank you again for the central part your excellent website building skills played in my campaign. Miranda

There is a great correlation between the two for sure. If the party members don't feel any link, any association with the policies, they are less likely to go out and campaign on behalf of the party.

But isn't it the policy outcomes that a lot of people object to, as much as the policy process?

I think Labour has done reasonably well to keep rebellion to a minimum until now - 18 years in opposition make for a relatively docile party. However if you compare how centralised Labour's decision making is in comparison to most other centre-left parties in Europe, I can completely understand why plenty of Labour members, councillors etc. feel very disillusioned.

Maybe "the Labour Party has to be more tolerant of internal debate" but some activists, MPs and councillors need to be more tolerant of the party's leadership team!
